Guardian Challenge: Guardian

The Guardian Challenge:
Guardian
By: Karen Marin

It's been a week already. A week, and Serene still felt empty and lost. They said it would take a long time to get over this but they never mentioned the pain and suffering she would go through. They never mentioned the total emptiness and the loneliness she would be feeling. It was too much for her to take.

She blinked her red rimmed eyes free of tears and wiped them away with the long sleeve of her black shirt. She stared down at the picture frame she was holding in her left hand and gently ran her thumb across the face of a young man in the picture. The photo portrayed her and her husband on their wedding day. They were both smiling and holding each other close. That picture was two years old. Every day since she had met Warren was pure bliss, and after their wedding day, it just got better.

Fresh tears made their way down her pale cheeks. Her chocolate brown blinked furiously as a sob escaped her mouth. She held the picture close to her chest as her body shook furiously with the sobs she was trying to suppress.

“Waren...Please come back. Come back...” Serene whimpered as she slowly laid herself on the floor and curled into a ball. She held the picture frame close to her chest and let the tears and sob take over once again.

Hours passed with her laying there, crying her heart and soul out to her lost love. Now though, there was only silence. Serene, still lying on the floor, blinked blankly at the wall in front of her. Slowly, she pulled herself up into a sitting position and placed the picture frame on the floor in front of her. She calmly wiped her cheeks from the tears and gradually stood up.

With her decision already made, she glanced around the room. The room was dark, only light available was the dull light that shined through the window. It was almost seven in the evening, it would be dark soon. The walls were bare of all pictures, she had to take them down. Her...Their bed was neatly done on one side while the other side had the covers thrown, the pillow was in a vertical position, and the sheets were rumpled. The side table was bare of anything except a clock and a lamp. The dresser was opposite of the bed and had make up and perfumes scattered across the top. There were clothes thrown across the floor, all hers. With a sigh, Serene glanced at the picture frame on the floor one last time before making her way out of the bedroom, down the hall and into the laundry room.

Dragging her feet, she neared her drier and washing machine. She raised her head and looked for the bottle of chlorine she had bought the other day. Having found it, she reached for it and grunted as she picked it up. Slamming it down on the washer, she breathed a sigh of relief, it was heavy and full.

With determination in her eyes, she opened the bottle of chlorine, ready to gulp it down and end her life. With a gasp, she picked up the now light bottle and shook it. It was empty.

'How is that possible?' Serene thought, still in shock. 'It was full three seconds ago!'

Serene shook her head at the thought. It was her head playing tricks on her, it had to be. With a frustrated huff, she slammed the bottle to the floor and made her way out of the laundry room and to the bathroom.

As she left, a shadow silently materialized beside the bottle. It shook it's head slightly and sagged it's shoulders. It turned it's head toward the door and slowly faded out, just as silently as he came in.

Reaching the bathroom, Serene angrily tore open the door with a slam and made her way inside. She quickly glanced around the neatly made bathroom and made her way to the sink. She stared at her self for a moment in the mirror. Her hair was still a a mess, her eyes had bags under them, showing the lack of sleep she had been getting and her eyes themselves lacked life. It was like she was dead inside.

Angrily Serene shook her head and opened the medicine cabinet. Her eyes quickly scanned the bottles inside and reached for the full bottle of aspirin. Giving it a light shake and hearing the rattling inside, she hastily turned the cap and held the bottle upside down pointed to her open palm.

Her eyes widened in disbelief as nothing fell out. She hurriedly raised it to her eye level and saw nothing inside. She blinked blankly for a few seconds before an uncontrollable rage took over her. She threw the pill bottle against the wall and swept her hands over the counter top, knocking everything down to the floor in one sweep. She put her hands to her face and let out a mighty sob. She pulled at her hair and backed away from the mirror and counter top. Once her back hit the far wall, she slid herself down the wall and sat there quietly.

Unbeknown to her, the shadow was once again there, seemingly staring down at her. His head was bowed and though you couldn't see his face, you could tell he seemed saddened with her. He knelt down in front of her and placed a hand to Serene's bowed head.

At once, Serene's head shot up and she looked around quickly and saw...nothing. Though the shadow man was kneeling down right in front of her, she seemed not to see him as she glanced around the bathroom. He knelt there staring at her face, almost as if willing her to see him, but to no avail.

'How...strange.' She thought with slight shiver. She wiped her face once again with her palms and rubbed her arms up and down, trying to gain heat from the sudden coldness she felt.

With a new found strength she managed to pull out of herself, she stood up with determination. Her eyes set hard on the wall in front of her. She glared at the mirror for half a minute before stomping her way out of the bathroom and out of sight of the now standing shadow. With no purpose anymore in the bathroom now that Serene left it, it slowly started to fade away, like it did in the laundry room.

Because she lived in a twenty story apartment, her next plan would be simple and fool proof. There was no way she'd delusion it or mess it up. It'd be simple and fast. At least, she hoped. She lived on the 17th floor, so she ha a bit of climbing to do before she reached the roof top. Her hand on the hand rail, she slowly started walking her way up the stairs. Her eyes upward, she started to slowly gain speed. Soon, she was sprinting up the stairs, eager to reach the roof, and ultimately, her end.

Reaching the door to her salvation, he slammed herself against it and opened it wide only to stop at the entry. Almost reluctantly, she started walking forward. Slowly, she made her way to the edge of the building and leaned her hands against the flat top of the wall that came up to her waist.

She took in her surroundings, possibly for the last time, if all went well. Serene shook her head free of doubts and smiled gently as the wind started blowing. She glanced upward at the dimming sky. Must have been at least eight by now. The sun was almost fully set but the sky looked as beautiful as ever. Slow clouds lazily passed over head as well as birds flying off to find a place to sleep.

She glanced back to the buildings in her line of sight. Many may not find it beautiful, but there was an urban kind of beauty in the city of New York. Buildings were everywhere, loud noises, people talking, kids screaming and playing, life moving forward, while hers stood still. She then glanced down to the cars and the people who looked like ants to her. It was a long drop, one that would kill her quickly and hopefully, without any pain.

Climbing on to the flat surface, she stuck out her arms to keep her balance. Nervous and fearful all of a sudden she took a deep breathe to calm her nerves. She had to do this, there was no other choice for her. She couldn't go on living without Waren. There was no life without him. She had nothing left to live for.

“I'll be with you soon Waren...” She whispered softly to herself and the wind. Taking a deep breathe and closing here eyes she leaned forward and let herself fall to her, death.

As she fell, she felt her eyes water, her hair being pushed back and the sensation of falling asleep took over her. She gladly gave in to the temptation and passed out with a smile on her face.

Before she could even come close to the concrete ground, she was suspended mid-air. Floating higher, rather than falling down, the shadow held her close and he spread his wings and took flight back to the rooftop. As he landed and folded in his wings he looked down at Serene as he held her bridal style. Shaking his head with a sad smile he faded out of sight with her still in his arms and back into her bedroom.

He gently set her down on the still unmade side of the bed. He lifted the blankets and tucked her in, making sure she was comfortable. He bent over her, brushed her dark bangs away from her face and tenderly, with much love, kissed her forehead an then her lips.

He moved away from the bed and walked to the picture frame sill lying innocently and beautifully on the floor. He picked it up and stared at it. A bitter sweet smile came upon his face and he gently rubbed the picture with his thumb. He placed a gentle kiss on the frame and set it on the night table, along with a single feather. With a wave of his hand he made the words he told her a long time ago, appear on the picture, to remind her.

I'll always be there to protect you.

With a final loving glance toward Serene, he smiled and let the tears he'd been holding back fall from his eyes. With a bowed head, he faded from the room, but not from her life. He'd always be there for her. He was her protector, her loving guardian.

Challenge: (Comedy) I Swear

Posted by iKaren92 at 1:22 AM Labels: Challenge

He sat in front of the mirror, like he always does around this time. It was around close to midnight, though you could never be able to tell while in that room. The room itself was dark with a depressing feeling to it. There were no paintings, no windows, no furniture’s, aside from the chair he was currently sitting on. On the far left was a single door, with many locks and chains. There was one candle in each of the servants hand and one by young Adrian’s feet.

He never looked away from the mirror, not even to glance at the servants who went about their way getting the young masters room ready for night. You could tell by the nervous glances they threw each other and the worried looks on their faces, that they were concerned for Adrian. No one in the house hold knew his dark secret, all they knew was that they were to lock him in this particular room till the sun rose.

“Get out already!” Adrian yelled out to the servants, getting impatient that they weren’t hurrying.

The servants, hearing their masters yell, hurriedly set the food and sheets down and scurried out of the room. Of course, one had to trip and spill all the food. Then the other got tangled in the sheet and fell flat on his face.

“Really? Are you serious?!” Adrian glared at the clumsy servants.

The servants, without glancing at Adrian, dragged themselves out of the room and firmly closed the door. Adrian let out a sigh of relief, but glared again at the door as it slowly creaked open.

“What now?!” Adrian shouted.

“We, er..Well, Stephen..lost..the key to the locks.” The middle age servant mumbled out while nervously looking away.

“Are you kidding me?!...Just, I don’t know, put a sign outside the door that says do not enter or something!”

The servant nodded quickly and in his rush to get out, hit the side of the door with so much force he was knocked backwards. Adrian saw the other servant, Stephen, and glared at him with humorous anger. Stephen epped in fright, grabbed his friends leg and dragged him out of the room.

‘Finally’ thought Adrian and he sat back and stared at the mirror.

It seemed like hours had passed as he stared into it.

“Gosh darn it woman, hurry up and appear in the damn mirror!” Adrian growled out. “I swear you do this on purpose.”

As he waited, impatiently he might add, he saw dull, sleep deprived black eyes slowly turn to a bright and evil red, his mouth began to form an evil grin and his teeth began to sharpen. His muscles began to contort and twist, his arms began to lengthen, his nails sharpening and biting into the flesh of his palm, drawing bright red blood. He closed his eyes briefly then looked back to the mirror.

“Damn, even as a hideous monster, I still look good.” He said cockily and winked at himself.

As he checked himself out, a girl materialized from the mirror.

“Ah, did my reflection just get uglier?”

The girl, Eris, narrowed her blue eyes in anger.

“Looking at yourself again you narcissistic bastard?”

“Now, now Eris…Don’t make yourself uglier with such fowl language.” He teased her with a smirk on his face.

“Ugh, you frustrate me so much!” She angrily huffed.

Eris grabbed her loose, flowing dark brown hair that was getting in the way and quickly braided it.

“And you love me for it” Adrian retorted with a grin.

“Ha, in your dreams.”

A comfortable silence passed over the two of them for a few minutes until Eris spoke up.

“Why do you have me in such an ugly room? My beauty should be shown to the people, not hidden away in this depressing room.” She said with a frown,

“Beauty? Ha!” Adrian questioned sarcastically. “I think this room suits your kind of ‘beauty’, if it could even be called that.”

“Are you calling me ugly?!” She gasped in outrage.

Adrian only responded with a nod and a teasing grin.

“You son of a—“

“Language dear Eris, language” Adrian cut her off.

Eris growled in frustration and glared daggers at Adrians head. After a few minutes she signed softly and let herself relax and stared seriously at Adrian.

“Have you found anything yet?” She asked him softly.

Adrian, sensing the mood change, slowly turned away from Eris.

“I’m close…”He murmured, not daring to look at her.

“That’s what you have been saying for the last 75 years!” She yelled exasperated.

“Well, it’s not like I don’t have a life! I have to work to keep this house and the servants…I’m not THAT rich…anymore that is.” Adrian pouted and crossed his scary looking arms.

Well excuse me for being such a burden on you! I mean it’s not like I’m stuck in a mirror or anything.” Eris sarcastically pointed out while glaring.

“You are such a nag! You know…I should just break your mirror.”

“Don’t you dare you scumbag!” Eris yelled and placed her hands on her hips.

“You are so lucky I like you as much as I do.” He grumbled out with a scowl.

Eris stared at Adrian through the mirror before resting her forehead on it.

“I miss bickering with you.” She looked away, biting her lip. “And being able to hit you when you made me angry.” She glanced at him with a small smile on her face.

Adrian returned the smile before frowning. “I don’t miss the hitting so much though. You left bruises.” He whined.

“Not my fault you’re such a wuss.” She smirked.

“You are such a bi—“

“Language dear Adrian, language.” She repeated his earlier fraze with a grin.

For hours both bickered and argued over stupid things. They reminisced about the good old days and laughed and enjoyed their short time together.

It was when Eris started to fade back into the mirror that they knew they had run out of time again. With a serious expression, Eris gently placed the palm of her hand against the mirror and waited patiently until Adrian did the same.

“I love you Adrian. I swear I do.” She said softly.

Adrian smiled and stared lovingly at her. “I love you too. I swear I’ll get us out of this mess Eris.”

“You better. It’s all your fault to begin with anyway. Do try to hurry up though, any longer and I’ll commit homicide to your face as soon as I get out.” She quickly said with a grin.

Before he could retort to that comment, she disappearing into the mirror.

Now normal again, Adrian laid his head against the mirror and laughed. He ran his hands through his black hair and heaved a mighty sigh of relief while closing his eyes. She was the only reason he went on. She kept him living.

“I swear to you Eris…I’ll free us both. I swear…” He said quietly to himself.

The sound of the door opening caught his attention. He glanced up as the servants from last nights scurried to clean up the nights mess. He wouldn’t give up, not on them, not on Eris. His eyes hardened with determination as he stood up and walked out, ready to face another day, for Eris.

As he walked pass the opened door he glanced at the note and laughed.

‘Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again. Thank you – Master Adrian’

‘No wonder nobody dared come in…They know I’d actually do that’ Adrian though to himself while chuckling. He was serious about that though. His servants knew him so well.

Mirror Challenge: (Drama) I Swear

Posted by iKaren92 at 10:16 PM Labels: Challenge

He sat in front of the mirror, like he always does around this time. It was around close to midnight, though you could never be able to tell while in that room. The room itself was dark with a depressing feeling to it. There were no paintings, no windows, no furniture’s, aside from the chair he was currently sitting on.

“Get out!” Adrian growled out to the servants, getting impatient that they weren’t hurrying.

The servants, hearing their masters growl, hurriedly set the food and sheets down and scurried out of the room. The door was firmly shut and the sound of locks clicking was the only thing heard for a few seconds. Then silence.

Adrian stared at the mirror again. It seemed like hours had passed as he stared into it. He saw dull, sleep deprived black eyes slowly turn to a bright and evil red, his mouth began to form an evil grin and his teeth began to sharpen. His face twisted in silent agony as his muscles began to contort and twist.

He fell to the damp and dirty floor, finally looking away from himself in the mirror. His arms began to lengthen, his nails sharpening and biting into the flesh of his palm, drawing bright red blood. He closed his eyes in agony, and then it all stopped. He laid there breathing hard and looked back up to the mirror slowly.

Staring back at him were two hauntingly beautiful blue eyes. Tears were flowing down the young woman’s eyes, down her pale cheeks only to be wiped away by the back of her small hand. Her dark brown hair was loose and flowing behind her, her dress, a bright yellow, was long and strapless and swayed with every move she made.

The girl, no older than Adrian, stared at him with fury and sadness in her eyes.

“Break me! Slam the damn mirror down and end both our suffering!” She cried out, slamming the palms of her hand on the mirror.

Adrian slowly stood from his position on the floor, cringing every time he made a particular move that jarred his new body. He sat back down in the chair and turned his head down, his black hair moving to cover his face from her view.

“I’m close Eris, so close to getting you out of there. To end this curse…” He murmured, not daring to look at her.

“That’s what you have been saying for the last 75 years!” She screamed. “But we’re still here aren’t we?! I can’t get out of this mirror and you…you can’t stop changing into this monster every night.” She sobbed out, covering her face with her hands.

“I know I can save us…I know it.” He shook his head furiously. “I can save us both Eris!” He quickly stood up and came close to the mirror.

Eris stared at Adrian through the mirror before resting her forehead on it.

“I’m just so tired Adrian. I want to be free…but I can’t live with your suffering. If I die, everything will end. You could live a happy life and I…I’ll-“ She looked away, biting her lip. Tears were flowing more freely down her cheeks. This time though, she didn’t bother wiping them away,

“You’ll be trapped in the damn mirror alone forever! That’s what will happen to you!” Adrian angrily yelled out while slamming his fists against the wall besides the mirror. “I can’t have that happen to you Eris…I love you, don’t you get it?!” He turned away from the mirror and sighed.

Eris let out a deep heart clenching sob and covered her tear soaked face with her hands.

“I won’t let you suffer like that Eris. I swear that I’ll get us both out of this alive.” He murmured quietly, almost to himself.

“Look at me Adrian…” She pleaded with him.

He came to her then, with his head bowed low, ashamed with himself.

“I love you Adrian…I love you with all my heart.” She whispered soothingly.

Adrian looked up and stared her straight in the eyes. For hours both cried for their loss, for their pain and for their suffering. They cried because they were afraid, lonely and heartbroken.

For hours they stayed like that, staring at one another with so much love and anguish in their eyes. It was when Eris started to fade back into the mirror that they knew they had run out of time again. Eris gently placed the palm of her hand against the mirror and waited patiently until Adrian did the same.

“I’ll wait for you. I’ll love you no matter what. I swear” She said softly until she finally disappeared into the lonely mirror.

Now normal again, Adrian laid his head against the mirror and fell to his knees. He ran his hands through his black hair and heaved a mighty sigh of sadness while closing his eyes.

“I swear to you Eris…I’ll free us both. I swear…” He said quietly to himself.

The sound of clicks could be heard as the door of his room opened. He glanced up with blank eyes to the servants walking in. He wouldn’t give up, not on them, not on Eris. His eyes hardened with determination as he stood up and walked out, ready to face another day, for Eris. Only for his beloved Eris.

Darcy Smith

Posted by iKaren92 at 11:11 PM Labels: Stories
Darcy was a normal ten year old girl. She went to school, hated homework, and loved nothing else than to spend time playing outside in the sun. Nothing was special about Darcy Smith, what with her blonde locks tied up in a simple pony tail, her plain brown eyes, small stature, and her normal everyday dress. No, nothing was special about Darcy…well, except that she lived in a haunted house.

Now, by no means was this house haunted. It was just the kind of place your mother would warn you not to play around. There was just…something off about this house, something not quite right.

Of course, there was the fact that there was no electricity, no running water, no sign of life what-so-ever. Only cobwebs, roaches, and other insects seemed to crawl around this place. There were rumors as well, about screams coming from the house at night. Most people though, laughed it off as a way to scare children. This was her home though, the one she shared with her parents, and so she loved it.

Darcy didn’t have many friends, in fact, she really had none at all. That was fine by Darcy though, she had to look after her parents and the house. She spent most of her days cleaning the house of all the blood stains her parents left behind. Now, what happened to them happened so long ago, she could barely remember.

She was very small and in pain, she remembers because still to this day, when she thinks about it, her heart starts to ache and pound terribly. Her parents were holding her, and this bright but menacing light was shinning in her eyes, blinding her. She could hear her parents pleading with someone to save me. I must have been horribly hurt, because they were saying “We’ll do anything! Just bring her back!” From where? She’d always wondered, but never found out the answer.

Later, she had woken up to see her parents crying and holding her tight. They kept repeating that they loved her and would never hurt her. She, of course, knew that already and told them so. But as the weeks went by, she noticed changes. Their appearance seemed to change. Their warm, sun kissed skin turned pasty and gray. Their once loving eyes, turned ice cold, soulless, large and black. Their teeth and nails grew longer and sharper. They talked less and less and soon, didn’t even look human. Once momma had stopped singing her to sleep, she knew, things were not going to get better.

They only came out at night and even then, they stayed out for hours. Darcy had waited for them and when they came back, they would be covered in blood and other things that she really didn’t want to think about. They didn’t say anything and just walked back into the basement, a place where she wasn’t allowed to go. Noticing the stains they left, she immediately began to work in cleaning. She did this every night now.

That was years ago. They never talked anymore. They hid in the dark and never made a sound till the sun went down. They were her parents though, and she loved them, even if they did smell like a sewer rat. They continued their nightly routines though, and so did she.

Darcy continued her life as normal as she could. She went to school, brought home good grades, made her own breakfast, lunch and dinner. To make money, she worked at a paper route and did little odd jobs around the neighborhood. After the groceries, if there was money left, she would treat herself to a small ice cream. Then, every night, she cleaned after her parents. She had quit trying to talk to her parents a while ago, finally understanding that she wouldn’t get a response anymore.

It was hard sometimes. On a sad day, she would have no one to talk to her or comfort her. She had to do everything herself. This day, was one of those days. She stared the floors and walls and sighed. She was so tired the other night, that she had fallen asleep while cleaning up all the blood. She would have to do extra work now it would seem. It wasn’t yet dark out, and so, she continued her work from last night.

She wiped down the bloody walls with a dirty, worn and torn rag. After she had gotten most of the blood out, she went to work on the floors. First, she started picking up the random limbs from the floor and put them in a bag. A torn arm, part of a leg, fingers, and a few organs. This didn’t bother Darcy anymore. After putting the bag outside she went back inside to wipe down the blood from the floor.

Some boys from the next town heard about this haunted old house and decided to go and burn the place down, after they explored it a bit. They had to show their girlfriends that they were brave, tough and scared of nothing. After they got themselves drunk and wild, they rode down to the old place on their motorcycles.

Darcy, having heard them pull up, ran down to the basement, where she usually wasn’t allowed, and hid in a corner. She didn’t know what else to do or where else to go. She hoped momma and daddy wouldn’t be mad at her.

Upstairs, the guys and they’re girlfriends were messing up the place and making loud complaints.

“This place isn’t haunted! It’s the filled with junk!” Jimmy said.

“What about the basement Jimmy? We haven’t looked in there yet.” One of his buddy’s replied.

Darcy’s heart was pounding in fear, not for herself, but for her parents. What if they hurt her momma and daddy. She couldn’t, wouldn’t, let that happen. She looked around for anything she could use as a weapon and spotted a shovel. She grabbed hold of it and held it tightly in her hands as she waited.

The door had opened and the boys and their girlfriends came down stairs flashing a flashlight around until they spotted her.

“Well…What do we have here?” Jimmy asked in a sarcastic and snobby way.
“Get out of my house!” Darcy yelled at the boy, gripping the shovel tighter and tighter.

“Or what?” Jimmy chuckled as he came closer.

Darcy swung that shovel with all her might, but even then, the shovel was too heavy for her. She did manage though, to hit Jimmy slightly across the face, leaving a trail of blood on his face.

Jimmy, fueled with anger, came at her fast. Before she could even think to protect herself, he had picked her up over his head and threw her hard against the wall. Darcy only felt pain and had to close her eyes. Jimmy had yet to finish with her though.

“No Jimmy! Leave her alone!” One of the girls yelled.

“Yeah Jimmy, she’s just a kid.”

Jimmy stopped and glared down at her. Before turning around to walk away, he spat bloody saliva down near her, while cursing under his breath.

“Lets get out of here before someone catches us.”

Before they could make it out the door, the floor began to shake and rip open in front of Darcy’s body. Flames started coming out of the floor and the door behind the four teenagers was closed firmly shut. The four teens could only stare in horror as two figures crawled their way out of the hole with hells flames.

The creatures crawled out and swiftly attacked the group of teens. The female creature ripped the first girls head clean off her shoulders and dangled the head with the spine still attached in front of Jimmy. Jimmy cowered in fear and backed away from the horrible creature.

The father had snuck up behind the second male and tore his hand through the boys chest taking out one of his lungs. The boy stared down in pure fear and pain at the hand sticking out of his chest holding his precious lung. Then, death fell upon him.

The second female screamed as she saw her boyfriend die and tried to run for the door. The male creature had quickly placed himself in front of her and slowly began creeping closer. The girl backed away hurriedly, keeping her eyes on the creature at all times. In the blink of an eye though, he was in front of her and crushing her neck with one of his clawed hands. Blood pooled out of her mouth as she gurgled her last breath before her neck broke.

Jimmy having witnessed all this, began to sob, weep and plead. This fell on death ears of course. The creatures slowly ripped him apart, piece by painful piece.

Darcy hadn’t seen any of this happen though. All she saw were her parents, coming to protect her. Her vision was getting fuzzy, but the pain was slowly going away, even though she couldn’t feel her fingers anymore. She forced herself to open her eyes and clear her vision. Seeing the blood, the arms, legs, organs and what not all she could think was, “How am I going to clean this all up before school tomorrow?”

She refocused her vision on the only two standing figures. They made no move to eat the bodies on the floor. Darcy guessed they just weren’t hungry tonight. They stood there, just staring at her, making absolutely no move.

Darcy‘s vision was going fuzzy and black again and she couldn’t feel her legs now anymore. So, she let her eyes close. She could have sworn she saw her parents crying, but that couldn’t be, they felt nothing anymore. She heard though, she knew, her mother humming that lullaby from so long ago and then a raspy whisper of “Goodnight.” She closed her eyes, and let darkness take her.

The next time Darcy woke up, she didn’t see her parents anywhere. She blinked her eyes in surprise as her stomach growled. She was so very hungry but she had a strange craving for something. She stared at the bloody mess still on the floor and licked her lips. Darcy Smith headed toward her meal for the night, grinning and showing off her new sharp teeth.

Time Again to RANT

Posted by iKaren92 at 2:05 PM Labels: Rant
Nah, not really ranting...More like getting this out of the way before I forget. There's nothing much to say since my last post. Met my 8 month old cousin today, Elizabeth...She was super cute. I felt kinda like an outsider though with the way my cousin was treating me. Like I wasn't...capable of holding my cousin. Like I was still too young to even hold her. Well **** him. He's held and babysat what..2 maybe 3 kids? I've babysat, held, and loved 8 kids. All my nieces and nephews adore me. While he went away for months and got away from our family missing all the precious moments, I was there holding, feeding, caring, babysitting my nieces and nephews.
Don't get me wrong, I love my cousin...But he put me through so much embarrassment today that I kinda dislike him at the moment. Every time I went to pick her up and play with her, he was there 30 seconds later to take her away. Then, every time my sister came, he willingly let her hold Elizabeth and didn't say a word. It just pissed me off so much that I had to leave before I said something. I tried not to let it bug me, but after the 15th time...I was through. Whatever. I had to miss my first few moments because of how he was acting. So pissed off right now, it brought me to angry tears. UGH. Okay...I ended up ranting...Ah well. Next time, I'll try not to rant and actually just talk about my month, week, day..whatever.

Too Long

Posted by iKaren92 at 3:58 PM Labels: Rant
Haha..Blog, it's been forever since I last posted something. I told myself to actually keep this up, but in the end I failed. Forgive me?

My life is and will probably always be boring, but I can at least try to post something, eh? Though, I can't promise an everyday thing...I hope to actually be able to post something at least once a month, especially now that I'll be focusing on college and things like that.

Let me go back a few days. I spent 11-15 with my two best friends, Nyx and Xue. It was like...a spark inside of me began to glow again. I felt so happy seeing their faces and being with them in real life, not through a computer screen.

We stayed in a hotel for a few days and then headed to Xue's house. It's been half a year since I was last there, but as soon as I stepped through, the memories flowed over me. I kept saying to myself "We slept in there", "Meow-Mii scared Xue and I in that room" or "Nyx took 11 of 9 years off of Meow-Mii in here". It was endless. I really appreciate going into that house. It holds so many dear memories.

Through the days we stayed in that house, we didn't really do much talking. We each were doing something on our own lap tops. Or in my case, borrowing a lap top. It wasn't awkward though...It was the good thing about our friendship I guess. We're not the type that always needs to talk. We can be silent for hours and feel like we had the longest conversation ever when we walk out. We shared laughs, insults, stories, and good food. I always love the food at Xue's house.

Then, too soon...It was time to say goodbye to Nyx again. Dark day that was. We only got to spend a few days with just the three of us, but those days are always special to me. Even if it was just one day, I'd still feel content and blessed to have the both of them.

It still shocks me that I've known them for 7 years-ish. It really doesn't seem that long. I never feel like I'm missing something from them, since we're always talking to each other. I hope we never drift apart. We have to work hard for that not to happen though. We're going to have to want not to lose contact with each other to hold this dear friendship. Life, of course, won't stop if we drift apart...But it'd be much happier and brighter if I could share many moments of my life with them and if they could share with me.

Now, to the present...I am at my mothers house preparing for my orientation at my college. I don't start till the fall, but I want to get this over with and make sure I get the classes I want. I'm not taking any chances!

I've also learned that one of my cousins will probably be joining me in college so that he can finish his degree. I hope he does go, it'll make me feel more comfortable knowing someone is there that I know and would help me.

I'm kind of excited for college life. Scared and nervous as well, but I have an excitement for it. Giddy with excitement actually. Lol, I hope while there, I figure out what I was meant to do and what I'm good at. Wish me luck? :D

Scare of My Life

Posted by iKaren92 at 3:18 PM Labels: Rant
I was lying in bed taking a little nap when my mom busted into my room. I woke up kinda cranky and reluctantly, but as soon as she told me my grandma was in the hospital, I jerked awake.

That struck fear into my heart alone. She's so old and fragile now, anything could have happened. I didn't think the worse because I just couldn't. It would literally break my heart. She's like a second mother to me.

My mom quickly said that she had a hernia and might need a surgery. Now, this is much better than a lot of the things I was thinking about, but surgery? At her age? Especially one in her stomach is very risky. It scared me and right away I asked if I could call her or if we could visit her.

I'm leaving soon to go see how she's doing. My heart is still beating very heavily. Thanks Xue for helping me calm it and for taking my mind off of it, even for a little while. So proud of you and Nyx for getting the first chapter out...Now i have to make you guys proud and draw that scene...

Spending Time Together

Posted by iKaren92 at 8:22 PM Labels: Rant
I spent the day with one of my babes today! She came here early and left super late. I had to kick her out cause she was staying way too late! jk.

We had a real fun time just catching up and talking about life, school, friends, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I signed her yearbook and left a touching paragraph that almost made me cry while signing it. She of course, left me an essay because thats how Nyx is. I feel like I'm going to have problems reading it though. She writes in scribbles!

Later on in the day, we talked to the 3rd member of our little group through webcam. While it was super fun talking to Xue on the computer, I still can't wait till she's here and I'm able to hug her! I MISS YOU XUE! She'll be here in a few weeks, so I really can't seem to wait.

In the end, it was a very good day. I had missed Nyx so much since she left. It was good seeing her again. Though, I'm going to fail my Economics final thanks to her(and Xue). Oh well. <3

Going Out

Posted by iKaren92 at 9:24 PM Labels: Rant
So I went out with a good friend of mine today. It was a lot of fun. It was super good to hang out with her again since school didn't let us. We partied and raved and watched a movie!

We saw Shrek Forever Afer or something like that. It was pretty good. Much better than the 3rd movie, by a LOT. After the movie, we walked around Downtown and took plenty of pictures.

It was sad that the night ended so quickly. Since neither of us have our licence yet, we had to leave early cause her mom worked the next day. We're still planning on goign out though, next week so all was not lost.

We sang in her car on the way back and raved with our glow sticks of doom! Peopel from the other cars kept staring at us like we were freaks. We were having so much fun though that we didn't even care.

In the end, it was a good day. :D

Rant

Posted by iKaren92 at 9:42 PM Labels: Rant
I'm so glad I have friends like Xue and Nyx. They ranted right on with me and made me feel so much better. I can't seem to perk myself up anymore. After a few comments from family or friends of the family, I usually feel depressed. I hate when they make those comments. I thought I was stronger than what I am, but I still end up in my room crying hours later. I don't think they know how fragile I am on the inside. I easily cry thanks to my low self-esteem. I hate the comments they make because I know I've accomplished so much and I'm not just a fat ugly girl. Notice how I know I'm fat and not that pretty. I try not to focus on that but on the fact that I can sing, I can draw, and I am very smart, street and school wise. But in a world where none of it matters unless you're tall, thin and gorgeous...It's hard to see inner beauty. It's hard to feel proud of your accomplishments when the pretty girl next to you is getting all the attention for being pretty and getting a C on a test. Or, true example, when the BOY next to you gets all the praise and attention because he managed not to get addicted to drinking and doing drugs through his high school life. And I stand here, with my straight A's, drug and alcohol free getting nothing but a pat on the back. Sometimes I feel like, whats the point? But I keep striving to be that person who'll one day make everyone go "Wow, she became somebody! She did something with her life and let nothing stop her!"

School Year Ending...

Posted by iKaren92 at 11:39 AM Labels: Rant
So yeah...Not including weekends, I have 4 days of school left. 4 days. Wow. I can't believe how far I've gone and how much I've grown over the years. I met amazing people and some not so amazing. I've been through high school life and survived it! I couldn't have done this without my friends of course. Ima start crying soon. We got our year books today and I wrote on 2 of my friends already. My heart was sobbing while writing...But also happy too. My friends started crying and I felt the tears coming on too. I can't wait to have all their messages in here for me to read years from now. One of my best friends (You know who you are) isn't here at the moment so I have to make sure to save her a spot to write on. The other one will be signing it soon.(Probably Sunday). The years have been amazing and the people who have gone through those years with me have been even more amazing. They're been wonderful and so supportive. Love you guys SO much. <3

School likes to torture kids?!

Posted by iKaren92 at 2:35 PM Labels: Rant
So today, my school decided that it should torture their juniors and seniors. We were made to walk all the way to our football field and sit on the hot bleachers under the scorching sun. Not only that, but we had to sit out there for almost two hours with no shade what-so-ever. They were showing us what would happen if we were to drink and drive. Like they haven't shown us that over a million times since middle school. There was so wind to cool us off, only hot and sweaty bodies upon hot sweaty bodies. Everyone was sweating bullets and complaining. I'm sure no one was even paying attention? Me? I was complaining my head off to my friends. Heat + Me = DEATH. They were also selling water...Nice, ice cold water. But they wouldn't let us get it until the END of the show when we were dying then and there! Ugh. My school wants to kill us. I'm sure of it.
