Challenge: (Comedy) I Swear

Posted by iKaren92 at 1:22 AM Labels: Challenge

He sat in front of the mirror, like he always does around this time. It was around close to midnight, though you could never be able to tell while in that room. The room itself was dark with a depressing feeling to it. There were no paintings, no windows, no furniture’s, aside from the chair he was currently sitting on. On the far left was a single door, with many locks and chains. There was one candle in each of the servants hand and one by young Adrian’s feet.

He never looked away from the mirror, not even to glance at the servants who went about their way getting the young masters room ready for night. You could tell by the nervous glances they threw each other and the worried looks on their faces, that they were concerned for Adrian. No one in the house hold knew his dark secret, all they knew was that they were to lock him in this particular room till the sun rose.

“Get out already!” Adrian yelled out to the servants, getting impatient that they weren’t hurrying.

The servants, hearing their masters yell, hurriedly set the food and sheets down and scurried out of the room. Of course, one had to trip and spill all the food. Then the other got tangled in the sheet and fell flat on his face.

“Really? Are you serious?!” Adrian glared at the clumsy servants.

The servants, without glancing at Adrian, dragged themselves out of the room and firmly closed the door. Adrian let out a sigh of relief, but glared again at the door as it slowly creaked open.

“What now?!” Adrian shouted.

“We, er..Well, Stephen..lost..the key to the locks.” The middle age servant mumbled out while nervously looking away.

“Are you kidding me?!...Just, I don’t know, put a sign outside the door that says do not enter or something!”

The servant nodded quickly and in his rush to get out, hit the side of the door with so much force he was knocked backwards. Adrian saw the other servant, Stephen, and glared at him with humorous anger. Stephen epped in fright, grabbed his friends leg and dragged him out of the room.

‘Finally’ thought Adrian and he sat back and stared at the mirror.

It seemed like hours had passed as he stared into it.

“Gosh darn it woman, hurry up and appear in the damn mirror!” Adrian growled out. “I swear you do this on purpose.”

As he waited, impatiently he might add, he saw dull, sleep deprived black eyes slowly turn to a bright and evil red, his mouth began to form an evil grin and his teeth began to sharpen. His muscles began to contort and twist, his arms began to lengthen, his nails sharpening and biting into the flesh of his palm, drawing bright red blood. He closed his eyes briefly then looked back to the mirror.

“Damn, even as a hideous monster, I still look good.” He said cockily and winked at himself.

As he checked himself out, a girl materialized from the mirror.

“Ah, did my reflection just get uglier?”

The girl, Eris, narrowed her blue eyes in anger.

“Looking at yourself again you narcissistic bastard?”

“Now, now Eris…Don’t make yourself uglier with such fowl language.” He teased her with a smirk on his face.

“Ugh, you frustrate me so much!” She angrily huffed.

Eris grabbed her loose, flowing dark brown hair that was getting in the way and quickly braided it.

“And you love me for it” Adrian retorted with a grin.

“Ha, in your dreams.”

A comfortable silence passed over the two of them for a few minutes until Eris spoke up.

“Why do you have me in such an ugly room? My beauty should be shown to the people, not hidden away in this depressing room.” She said with a frown,

“Beauty? Ha!” Adrian questioned sarcastically. “I think this room suits your kind of ‘beauty’, if it could even be called that.”

“Are you calling me ugly?!” She gasped in outrage.

Adrian only responded with a nod and a teasing grin.

“You son of a—“

“Language dear Eris, language” Adrian cut her off.

Eris growled in frustration and glared daggers at Adrians head. After a few minutes she signed softly and let herself relax and stared seriously at Adrian.

“Have you found anything yet?” She asked him softly.

Adrian, sensing the mood change, slowly turned away from Eris.

“I’m close…”He murmured, not daring to look at her.

“That’s what you have been saying for the last 75 years!” She yelled exasperated.

“Well, it’s not like I don’t have a life! I have to work to keep this house and the servants…I’m not THAT rich…anymore that is.” Adrian pouted and crossed his scary looking arms.

Well excuse me for being such a burden on you! I mean it’s not like I’m stuck in a mirror or anything.” Eris sarcastically pointed out while glaring.

“You are such a nag! You know…I should just break your mirror.”

“Don’t you dare you scumbag!” Eris yelled and placed her hands on her hips.

“You are so lucky I like you as much as I do.” He grumbled out with a scowl.

Eris stared at Adrian through the mirror before resting her forehead on it.

“I miss bickering with you.” She looked away, biting her lip. “And being able to hit you when you made me angry.” She glanced at him with a small smile on her face.

Adrian returned the smile before frowning. “I don’t miss the hitting so much though. You left bruises.” He whined.

“Not my fault you’re such a wuss.” She smirked.

“You are such a bi—“

“Language dear Adrian, language.” She repeated his earlier fraze with a grin.

For hours both bickered and argued over stupid things. They reminisced about the good old days and laughed and enjoyed their short time together.

It was when Eris started to fade back into the mirror that they knew they had run out of time again. With a serious expression, Eris gently placed the palm of her hand against the mirror and waited patiently until Adrian did the same.

“I love you Adrian. I swear I do.” She said softly.

Adrian smiled and stared lovingly at her. “I love you too. I swear I’ll get us out of this mess Eris.”

“You better. It’s all your fault to begin with anyway. Do try to hurry up though, any longer and I’ll commit homicide to your face as soon as I get out.” She quickly said with a grin.

Before he could retort to that comment, she disappearing into the mirror.

Now normal again, Adrian laid his head against the mirror and laughed. He ran his hands through his black hair and heaved a mighty sigh of relief while closing his eyes. She was the only reason he went on. She kept him living.

“I swear to you Eris…I’ll free us both. I swear…” He said quietly to himself.

The sound of the door opening caught his attention. He glanced up as the servants from last nights scurried to clean up the nights mess. He wouldn’t give up, not on them, not on Eris. His eyes hardened with determination as he stood up and walked out, ready to face another day, for Eris.

As he walked pass the opened door he glanced at the note and laughed.

‘Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again. Thank you – Master Adrian’

‘No wonder nobody dared come in…They know I’d actually do that’ Adrian though to himself while chuckling. He was serious about that though. His servants knew him so well.

Mirror Challenge: (Drama) I Swear

Posted by iKaren92 at 10:16 PM Labels: Challenge

“Get out!” Adrian growled out to the servants, getting impatient that they weren’t hurrying.

The servants, hearing their masters growl, hurriedly set the food and sheets down and scurried out of the room. The door was firmly shut and the sound of locks clicking was the only thing heard for a few seconds. Then silence.

Adrian stared at the mirror again. It seemed like hours had passed as he stared into it. He saw dull, sleep deprived black eyes slowly turn to a bright and evil red, his mouth began to form an evil grin and his teeth began to sharpen. His face twisted in silent agony as his muscles began to contort and twist.

He fell to the damp and dirty floor, finally looking away from himself in the mirror. His arms began to lengthen, his nails sharpening and biting into the flesh of his palm, drawing bright red blood. He closed his eyes in agony, and then it all stopped. He laid there breathing hard and looked back up to the mirror slowly.

Staring back at him were two hauntingly beautiful blue eyes. Tears were flowing down the young woman’s eyes, down her pale cheeks only to be wiped away by the back of her small hand. Her dark brown hair was loose and flowing behind her, her dress, a bright yellow, was long and strapless and swayed with every move she made.

The girl, no older than Adrian, stared at him with fury and sadness in her eyes.

“Break me! Slam the damn mirror down and end both our suffering!” She cried out, slamming the palms of her hand on the mirror.

Adrian slowly stood from his position on the floor, cringing every time he made a particular move that jarred his new body. He sat back down in the chair and turned his head down, his black hair moving to cover his face from her view.

“I’m close Eris, so close to getting you out of there. To end this curse…” He murmured, not daring to look at her.

“That’s what you have been saying for the last 75 years!” She screamed. “But we’re still here aren’t we?! I can’t get out of this mirror and you…you can’t stop changing into this monster every night.” She sobbed out, covering her face with her hands.

“I know I can save us…I know it.” He shook his head furiously. “I can save us both Eris!” He quickly stood up and came close to the mirror.

Eris stared at Adrian through the mirror before resting her forehead on it.

“I’m just so tired Adrian. I want to be free…but I can’t live with your suffering. If I die, everything will end. You could live a happy life and I…I’ll-“ She looked away, biting her lip. Tears were flowing more freely down her cheeks. This time though, she didn’t bother wiping them away,

“You’ll be trapped in the damn mirror alone forever! That’s what will happen to you!” Adrian angrily yelled out while slamming his fists against the wall besides the mirror. “I can’t have that happen to you Eris…I love you, don’t you get it?!” He turned away from the mirror and sighed.

Eris let out a deep heart clenching sob and covered her tear soaked face with her hands.

“I won’t let you suffer like that Eris. I swear that I’ll get us both out of this alive.” He murmured quietly, almost to himself.

“Look at me Adrian…” She pleaded with him.

He came to her then, with his head bowed low, ashamed with himself.

“I love you Adrian…I love you with all my heart.” She whispered soothingly.

Adrian looked up and stared her straight in the eyes. For hours both cried for their loss, for their pain and for their suffering. They cried because they were afraid, lonely and heartbroken.

For hours they stayed like that, staring at one another with so much love and anguish in their eyes. It was when Eris started to fade back into the mirror that they knew they had run out of time again. Eris gently placed the palm of her hand against the mirror and waited patiently until Adrian did the same.

“I’ll wait for you. I’ll love you no matter what. I swear” She said softly until she finally disappeared into the lonely mirror.

Now normal again, Adrian laid his head against the mirror and fell to his knees. He ran his hands through his black hair and heaved a mighty sigh of sadness while closing his eyes.

“I swear to you Eris…I’ll free us both. I swear…” He said quietly to himself.

The sound of clicks could be heard as the door of his room opened. He glanced up with blank eyes to the servants walking in. He wouldn’t give up, not on them, not on Eris. His eyes hardened with determination as he stood up and walked out, ready to face another day, for Eris. Only for his beloved Eris.

Darcy Smith

Posted by iKaren92 at 11:11 PM Labels: Stories
Darcy was a normal ten year old girl. She went to school, hated homework, and loved nothing else than to spend time playing outside in the sun. Nothing was special about Darcy Smith, what with her blonde locks tied up in a simple pony tail, her plain brown eyes, small stature, and her normal everyday dress. No, nothing was special about Darcy…well, except that she lived in a haunted house.

Now, by no means was this house haunted. It was just the kind of place your mother would warn you not to play around. There was just…something off about this house, something not quite right.

Of course, there was the fact that there was no electricity, no running water, no sign of life what-so-ever. Only cobwebs, roaches, and other insects seemed to crawl around this place. There were rumors as well, about screams coming from the house at night. Most people though, laughed it off as a way to scare children. This was her home though, the one she shared with her parents, and so she loved it.

Darcy didn’t have many friends, in fact, she really had none at all. That was fine by Darcy though, she had to look after her parents and the house. She spent most of her days cleaning the house of all the blood stains her parents left behind. Now, what happened to them happened so long ago, she could barely remember.

She was very small and in pain, she remembers because still to this day, when she thinks about it, her heart starts to ache and pound terribly. Her parents were holding her, and this bright but menacing light was shinning in her eyes, blinding her. She could hear her parents pleading with someone to save me. I must have been horribly hurt, because they were saying “We’ll do anything! Just bring her back!” From where? She’d always wondered, but never found out the answer.

Later, she had woken up to see her parents crying and holding her tight. They kept repeating that they loved her and would never hurt her. She, of course, knew that already and told them so. But as the weeks went by, she noticed changes. Their appearance seemed to change. Their warm, sun kissed skin turned pasty and gray. Their once loving eyes, turned ice cold, soulless, large and black. Their teeth and nails grew longer and sharper. They talked less and less and soon, didn’t even look human. Once momma had stopped singing her to sleep, she knew, things were not going to get better.

They only came out at night and even then, they stayed out for hours. Darcy had waited for them and when they came back, they would be covered in blood and other things that she really didn’t want to think about. They didn’t say anything and just walked back into the basement, a place where she wasn’t allowed to go. Noticing the stains they left, she immediately began to work in cleaning. She did this every night now.

That was years ago. They never talked anymore. They hid in the dark and never made a sound till the sun went down. They were her parents though, and she loved them, even if they did smell like a sewer rat. They continued their nightly routines though, and so did she.

Darcy continued her life as normal as she could. She went to school, brought home good grades, made her own breakfast, lunch and dinner. To make money, she worked at a paper route and did little odd jobs around the neighborhood. After the groceries, if there was money left, she would treat herself to a small ice cream. Then, every night, she cleaned after her parents. She had quit trying to talk to her parents a while ago, finally understanding that she wouldn’t get a response anymore.

It was hard sometimes. On a sad day, she would have no one to talk to her or comfort her. She had to do everything herself. This day, was one of those days. She stared the floors and walls and sighed. She was so tired the other night, that she had fallen asleep while cleaning up all the blood. She would have to do extra work now it would seem. It wasn’t yet dark out, and so, she continued her work from last night.

She wiped down the bloody walls with a dirty, worn and torn rag. After she had gotten most of the blood out, she went to work on the floors. First, she started picking up the random limbs from the floor and put them in a bag. A torn arm, part of a leg, fingers, and a few organs. This didn’t bother Darcy anymore. After putting the bag outside she went back inside to wipe down the blood from the floor.

Some boys from the next town heard about this haunted old house and decided to go and burn the place down, after they explored it a bit. They had to show their girlfriends that they were brave, tough and scared of nothing. After they got themselves drunk and wild, they rode down to the old place on their motorcycles.

Darcy, having heard them pull up, ran down to the basement, where she usually wasn’t allowed, and hid in a corner. She didn’t know what else to do or where else to go. She hoped momma and daddy wouldn’t be mad at her.

Upstairs, the guys and they’re girlfriends were messing up the place and making loud complaints.

“This place isn’t haunted! It’s the filled with junk!” Jimmy said.

“What about the basement Jimmy? We haven’t looked in there yet.” One of his buddy’s replied.

Darcy’s heart was pounding in fear, not for herself, but for her parents. What if they hurt her momma and daddy. She couldn’t, wouldn’t, let that happen. She looked around for anything she could use as a weapon and spotted a shovel. She grabbed hold of it and held it tightly in her hands as she waited.

The door had opened and the boys and their girlfriends came down stairs flashing a flashlight around until they spotted her.

“Well…What do we have here?” Jimmy asked in a sarcastic and snobby way.
“Get out of my house!” Darcy yelled at the boy, gripping the shovel tighter and tighter.

“Or what?” Jimmy chuckled as he came closer.

Darcy swung that shovel with all her might, but even then, the shovel was too heavy for her. She did manage though, to hit Jimmy slightly across the face, leaving a trail of blood on his face.

Jimmy, fueled with anger, came at her fast. Before she could even think to protect herself, he had picked her up over his head and threw her hard against the wall. Darcy only felt pain and had to close her eyes. Jimmy had yet to finish with her though.

“No Jimmy! Leave her alone!” One of the girls yelled.

“Yeah Jimmy, she’s just a kid.”

Jimmy stopped and glared down at her. Before turning around to walk away, he spat bloody saliva down near her, while cursing under his breath.

“Lets get out of here before someone catches us.”

Before they could make it out the door, the floor began to shake and rip open in front of Darcy’s body. Flames started coming out of the floor and the door behind the four teenagers was closed firmly shut. The four teens could only stare in horror as two figures crawled their way out of the hole with hells flames.

The creatures crawled out and swiftly attacked the group of teens. The female creature ripped the first girls head clean off her shoulders and dangled the head with the spine still attached in front of Jimmy. Jimmy cowered in fear and backed away from the horrible creature.

The father had snuck up behind the second male and tore his hand through the boys chest taking out one of his lungs. The boy stared down in pure fear and pain at the hand sticking out of his chest holding his precious lung. Then, death fell upon him.

The second female screamed as she saw her boyfriend die and tried to run for the door. The male creature had quickly placed himself in front of her and slowly began creeping closer. The girl backed away hurriedly, keeping her eyes on the creature at all times. In the blink of an eye though, he was in front of her and crushing her neck with one of his clawed hands. Blood pooled out of her mouth as she gurgled her last breath before her neck broke.

Jimmy having witnessed all this, began to sob, weep and plead. This fell on death ears of course. The creatures slowly ripped him apart, piece by painful piece.

Darcy hadn’t seen any of this happen though. All she saw were her parents, coming to protect her. Her vision was getting fuzzy, but the pain was slowly going away, even though she couldn’t feel her fingers anymore. She forced herself to open her eyes and clear her vision. Seeing the blood, the arms, legs, organs and what not all she could think was, “How am I going to clean this all up before school tomorrow?”

She refocused her vision on the only two standing figures. They made no move to eat the bodies on the floor. Darcy guessed they just weren’t hungry tonight. They stood there, just staring at her, making absolutely no move.

Darcy‘s vision was going fuzzy and black again and she couldn’t feel her legs now anymore. So, she let her eyes close. She could have sworn she saw her parents crying, but that couldn’t be, they felt nothing anymore. She heard though, she knew, her mother humming that lullaby from so long ago and then a raspy whisper of “Goodnight.” She closed her eyes, and let darkness take her.

The next time Darcy woke up, she didn’t see her parents anywhere. She blinked her eyes in surprise as her stomach growled. She was so very hungry but she had a strange craving for something. She stared at the bloody mess still on the floor and licked her lips. Darcy Smith headed toward her meal for the night, grinning and showing off her new sharp teeth.

Time Again to RANT

Posted by iKaren92 at 2:05 PM Labels: Rant
Nah, not really ranting...More like getting this out of the way before I forget. There's nothing much to say since my last post. Met my 8 month old cousin today, Elizabeth...She was super cute. I felt kinda like an outsider though with the way my cousin was treating me. Like I wasn't...capable of holding my cousin. Like I was still too young to even hold her. Well **** him. He's held and babysat what..2 maybe 3 kids? I've babysat, held, and loved 8 kids. All my nieces and nephews adore me. While he went away for months and got away from our family missing all the precious moments, I was there holding, feeding, caring, babysitting my nieces and nephews.
Don't get me wrong, I love my cousin...But he put me through so much embarrassment today that I kinda dislike him at the moment. Every time I went to pick her up and play with her, he was there 30 seconds later to take her away. Then, every time my sister came, he willingly let her hold Elizabeth and didn't say a word. It just pissed me off so much that I had to leave before I said something. I tried not to let it bug me, but after the 15th time...I was through. Whatever. I had to miss my first few moments because of how he was acting. So pissed off right now, it brought me to angry tears. UGH. Okay...I ended up ranting...Ah well. Next time, I'll try not to rant and actually just talk about my month, week, day..whatever.
